Looking great

You've done a great job with the theme on this forum! There's still a little quirkiness with some things, but I'm definitely impressed. I almost can't believe that you made the globe by yourself; it looks amazing.

I also enjoy the concept behind the site, as I'm not aware of any existing communities like this.

Congratulations, I hope it takes off.

Thanks.

Some of the quirks are simply learning to use a different software package. That is requiring some adaptation from me, especially with this theme. After a little time, it has started to seem more natural.

Some of the other quirks are the result of me wanting to experiment a bit. I figure that is easier at the beginning stages of a community, so I am be making changes here and there as I learn how, have time, or get inspired. There are likely to be subtle changes here and there for a while as I get a few minutes here and there to make adjustments.

Hey, I am really glad you decided to sign up! Welcome. Smiley

I'm glad I signed up too Smiley I actually have dealt with quite a bit of multi- and third-cultural issues, and will probably talk about my own experiences at some point. However, it's finals week at school and I unfortunately don't have time for memoirs. Having a low-population forum to post on as I take breaks from my work is really nice though, so that's what I'll be doing here for another week or so.

I wasn't at all complaining about the quirks. I was surprised you managed to get it so beautiful so quick. I'm sure all the little things will work out over time, and I'll chime in with my opinion where they don't Wink

edit: I'm actually glad that you're using SMF, even if it is a lot more cumbersome than vBulletin. I think it's important to use, evaluate, give feedback on, and post bug reports for open source software. Even if SMF is a lot harder to use and less efficient right now, if no one tries to make the most of it, how will improve it to the same degree as vBulletin?

Cool. I'm doing this in between being a husband, a father, a business owner, a writer, and an admin in the largest Linux forum on the internet. I'm completely with you on the occasional place to post during breaks thing. Plus, it's fun and relaxing to me to create, so that was the initial impetus for the site.

Thank you!

I agree. Plus, I like looking at different systems and becoming familiar with them. For me, it is a pleasure to learn how the underlying software works, then adapting from one specific piece of software to another becomes much easier.
