Hello Smiley

I just received an invitation by Matthew on another forum we both enjoy. I could not resit to come over here and have a look..

I'm Isabelle, from France. I registered here with my usual nickname/avatar, the identity I use online. I am a mother of 3 boys (currently 14, 10 1/2 and 8 ) and teach Biology and a little Computer Sciences (mainly related to free and open source software). I have lived for more than 3 years in the USA, after I graduated. I learned English from scratch. When I landed in Atlanta, GA, I had $100 in my pocket, one suitcase and a dog. I was 25. Looks so far away and still so present in my memory. Guess I can fit in Cool

Who's next?

PS: I'll have to learn BBcode over again..

I am the Matthew that Isabelle mentioned. I am married to another forum user, Heather, who I hope we will get to see from time to time. We have three kids. Our daughters are ages 6 and just about to turn 5, and our son is 2. We are from the U.S.A., currently living in Morocco.

Heather and I first moved here in 2001 to study Arabic and for a change of pace from academic life Stateside. There was an opening at the language school where I studied for an assistant administrator, so I did that for a few years. Now I do cultural research, some writing, and run a small business.

I am Jussi, Saw this site mentioned on a blog post on planet ubuntu. (Where are the k/ubuntu avatars?) Im now 26, and I live in Finland. I'm from "Down Under" (Australia) and Ive now lived in 2 different cultures from my own (Ireland and Finland). I'm married to a Finnish girl, which kind of explains my presence here, and adds another cultural dimension.  I currently work for a Company here in Oulu, where I am a Marketing assistant. My Finnish language skill are errr... well can we leave it there? Ive only been here 3 years... Smiley

Hello! My name is Faith. I was told about this site by Matthew and decided it would be cool to join. I currently live in Morocco and have been here for over five years. To add to my cultural experiences, I will be studying in Germany next school year. I am originally from the USA. I am not married nor do I have any children. Smiley

Hi. I am Heather, married to Matthew.  We have two daughters and a son, all under the age of seven.  I have been a stay at home mom since being pregnant with our first daughter.  Previously I taught math at both the high school level and community college.  I enjoy cooking and baking and walking our kids to school and shopping at the local market.  I also enjoy hanging out with friends and watching movies.  I am American (grew up in Arizona) and have been living in Morocco since the fall of 2001.

Hey, I'm Ryan and I'm living in Morocco for the summer.  My wife and I will be doing some independent studies about the culture, language, etc.  I wouldn't consider myself a third culture person yet, but I'm sure I'll experience the effects at some point this summer. laugh

I prefer to be anonymous, but I think this site looks pretty cool and I hope to see it grow into a good resource as well as an interesting community. It seems that we have a good beginning for that. Perhaps I'll reveal myself a bit more later, as I warm up.
