I'll get us started...

Marmite
Vegemite

Yeah, I realize they are nearly the same thing.

As a friend of mine was showing me a slide show on his computer of his summer trip to China; there where several pictures of him tasting the local food. ( All exotic and fried on a stick; almost like the Minnesota state fair). One photo showed my friend biting into a long, white, snake like animal. His expression was that of a fearless warrior eating what most people would not even touch.

He then said to me with frankness and a remaining touch of disgust. " I thought I was eating a snake, I had no idea it was a lamb's penis."

HAHA!  I guess that puts a new spin on "exotic food" for him...

Hot peppers, like in Thai cuisine or (good) Mexican food.

Matthew,
I'll try to get you some harrisa, it's a paste made from dried hot peppers with garlic and olive oil blended in.  It is used at almost every meal here.

An "everything" flavored bagel with cream cheese and hummus (most flavors will do).  laugh Most people I encounter hate the thought of it, but the one or two people that dared try a bite actually liked it. So I'm not sure about this one.

Tuna pizza. My kids love it. I like it. It is not available in the USA...unless we make it ourselves, and I think I will.

I think it is even better with some calamari and a little corn, but not everyone agrees. Smiley
